Over 4th of July weekend, artists including John Mayer, Dave Mathews Band, 311, and Widespread Panic will join together in an attempt to, according the Rothbury’s press release, “…save the world,” eco-style.
Rothbury intends to use the power of music to increase awareness on global warming and create the initiative to make a difference, and it’s not all talk. The festival will employ products such as recycled toilet paper, portable ashtrays, organic merchandise, various compost piles throughout the site, and has banned pointless and high-waste handouts from venders to produce an event with the least amount of waste as possible.
Along with a power lineup of artists and a ridiculous amount of green house gas reducers, Rothbury will use multiple tactics to inform its audience of everyday activities that can help the environment. Pseudo events will take place all over the site and many surprise activities have been promised that will offer discussion groups to share ideas between influential members of society and the music industry.
July 3rd-6th in Michigan will prove to be not only an opportunity to check out some amazing musical acts, but also a chance to be part of something great; something that can and will make a difference.
